Almost Through Washington

23rd August

After an excellent nights sleep we packed up and had to cycle over 8 miles on empty stomachs for breakfast. On the way we left a note of thanks and some money to the old lady that had given us food the night before and headed towards a town call Ilwaco. The roads were perfectly smooth & we seemed to eat up the miles very quickly. By 2pm we had covered 48 miles and had reached our destination for the day, only 12 miles shy of the Washington-Oregon border. An early finish meant we could relax for the afternoon in the sun and rest some of our aching leg muscles. Amazingly my bike had ceased making a strange noise and was running perfectly. That evening the only place open in town had just seem a bar fight between a group of fisherman but the food turned out to be excellent.

Total mileage : somewhere in the 600 area

Music : Florence and the Machine

Mood : very worried about the state of the back wheel but otherwise content
