Rainy Washington

From Fort Casey we took another short ferry ride over Puget Sound to Fort Townsend. The crossing was pretty choppy and the skies were looking grey and omninous for the first time in over a week. The moment we reached the mainland the heavens opened and for the next couple of hours we were pedalling through quite a heavy shower and getting a little lost in the process. We spent lunchtime in Qualicane by which time the rain had finally eased off and we were able to dry out a little.  Following lunch was every cyclists nightmare, a 700 ft steep climb. On a full stomach we gunned onwards and upwards and within half hour we were at the peak and able to race down the other side for the next few miles. We ended up reaching an RV park after 62 miles of cycling which was pretty good going considering the conditions. We pitched up exhausted and had the hottest shower ever before hitting the local diner and ordering some breaded chicken, jacket potatoe, salad & a couple of beers. An excellent day of cycling.
